The Machaqa Amawt’a Foundation is a private non-profit social institution.  It is legally represented within the Episcopal Education Commission/Comisión Episcopal de Educación – CEE and the Ayllu peoples of Jesús de Machaca. It is based in the capital of the sixth municipal section of Jesús de Machaca.

Jesús and San Andrés de Machaca are working in two programmes:

On the one hand, there is the programme for Alternative Education for Adults developing education processes with youths, adults and native community members and authorities.  This is in order to be able to advocate on the strengthening of the indigenous organisations, improving agricultural production within an agro-ecological focus along with community based ethno-tourism.

On the other hand, there is the programme for Permanent Education developing innovative education activities.  These are of an experimental nature with boys and youth from the primary and secondary levels through sub-programmes: children’s animation, youth involvement; training of directors, teachers and school boards.  This includes education administration, education research and documentary services with advocacy on a contextual, relevant and quality education.

The Machaqa Amawt´a Foundation’s mission is to participate, through education, towards the creation of an intercultural society where identities are respected and fair and equitable relationships are promoted in social, economic, political, cultural, linguistic, spiritual and territorial aspects.
